2021 MENTORING PROGRAM OF THE YEAR
The Eta Pi Chapter was granted this award for 2020 and 2021.
The mentoring program is managed by the
- OUR GOAL: Help male youth ages 10 - 18 make a successful transition through the adolescent life stage.
- OUR LOCATION: The Omega Family Resource and Learning Center (132 S. Harrison St, East Orange)
- OUR ACTIVITIES:
- Open to the Public - Saturday Programming
- School Programming - Thursday and Friday Afternoons in Local Schools (Closed To Public)

WHAT: Social Emotional Learning and College/ Career Exploration
WHEN: 3rd Saturday of Month 10am - 12pm
WHERE: Omega Family Resource and Learning Center (132 South Harrison St, East Orange NJ)
WHO: Boys in Grades 5 - 12
REQUESTED DONATION $50 (Donations are NOT REQUIRED)
SATURDAY MENTORING PROGRAM ACTIVITIES
10/29/22 - Nassan's Place Annual Trunk or Treat - A halloween activity for children affected by Autism.
11/19/22 - Boys Can Cook - Signature family dishes judged in a tasting competition.
12/17/22 - Mayor Ted Green's Toys For Tots - Toy distribution to children at City Hall.
1/21/23 - E- Sports Video Game Tournament - Career opportunities discussed along with a tournament.
2/18/23 - Virtual Cultural Exchange Trip - Cultural exchange Zoom with youth from Ghana, Africa.
3/18/23 - Cops and Kids Sports Clinic - Community relations and sports skills with law enforcement officers.
4/15/23 - HBCU College Tour - College life is explored by touring a HBCU (TBA).
5/20/23 - Annual Mother's Day Breakfast - Mothers of the boys and wives of the mentors are celebrated.
6/24/23 - Annual Boys to Men Retreat - A fun filled weekend of fishing, camping, rock climbing and hiking.
NOTE: The Saturday Program has a REQUESTED DONATION of $50
The Fee is NOT MANDATORY but requested.
PARENTS MUST COMPLETE A NEW FORM FOR 2022-2023
In School and After School Mentoring
Once a month the program visits local schools to conduct social emotional learning mentoring sessions.
In-School and After School Activities
October - Critical Thinking - Bro. William Parrish shares his book Making Bold Moves with high school students. David Miller shares his book Khalil's Way with middle school youth.
November - Peer Pressure - How to select positive peer groups.
December - Leadership Development - Youth are encouraged o join the local NAACP Youth Council.
January - Avoiding Drugs - A local scientist explores the dangers found in common drugs used by teenagers.
February - Conflict Resolution - A special focus on dating violence recognizes Domestic Abuse Awareness month.
March - Interacting with Law enforcement - Local police officers talk with students about community relations.
April - Workforce Readiness - How to complete a job application/interview for high school groups. Career exploration for middle school youth.
May - Mental Health Awareness - A therapist discusses the benefits of therapy with a focus on anger management.
The topic areas are modified for ages of students.
