Dr. Ernest Everett Just Mentoring Program

College and Career Readiness Mentoring for Youth Ages  10 - 18 


The mentor program is managed by the Greater Essex Community Uplift Foundation (GECUF), a 501c3 Organization.

  • OUR GOAL: Help male youth ages 10 - 18 make a successful transition through the adolescent lfe stage.
  • OUR LOCATION: The Omega Family Resource and Learning Center (132 S. Harrison St, East Orange, NJ).
  • OUR ACTIVITIES: In-person  on the 3rd Saturday of the month 10am - 12pm (Gamer Activities conducted Virtually)

Streaming and Gaming (Ages 10 -14) - From January 22, 2022 -  March 26, 2022

A virtuall course, taught by Futures First Gaming on Saturday mornings from 10am - 12pm, introduces youth to Professional Gaming and includes:

  • Live Stream with opportunities to produce digital content  
  • Planning events through production & tournament hosting
  • Participate in Open Play Gaming for E-sports skills development
  • Attend a College Tour at an institution offering Gaming as a Major

Work Readiness Mentoring Sessions (Ages 15 - 18) - From January 22 - June 18

A monthly course, taught inperson, prepares youth for summer jobs or internships and includes:

  • Job Search - Create and manage a LinkedIn account
  • Interviewing - Answer common interview questions
  • Financial Literacy - Effectively manage a budget (Savings and Checking)
  • Corporate Visit - Attend a job shadow activity with a corporate partner
  • Customer Service - Apply critical thinking to common workplace events
  • Job Placement - A summer job or internship with community or corporate sponsor 
  • Sessions conducted at the Omega Family Resource and Learning Center (132 South Harrison St, East Orange, NJ)
